Immanuel Quickley seems to be closer to a return.
The Toronto Raptors lead guard was on the floor during the team’s practice today and participated in all elements, but still did not get cleared contract, per Sportsnet’s Michael Grange. However, according to Darko Rajakovic Quickley looked good and is getting closer to a return from his UCL injury, per Grange.
Quickley spoke to reporters after the game and there is still no firm timeline for his return. He told reporters that he’s still waiting to try a full arsenal of left-handed passes and it could be another work or more, per Grange.
Quickley has only played in 3 games for the Raptors this season. He suffered a pelvic injury against the Cleveland Cavaliers on opening night. He returned for two games before suffering a partial tear of his ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow on Nov. 10 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, Davion Mitchell who popped up on the injury report in the game against the Brooklyn Nets with a shoulder injury is questionable to play against the Houston Rockets, per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg. Jakob Poeltl (groin) who is considered day-to-day has been ruled out along with Bruce Brown (knee) who continue to recover from offseason knee surgery. With Poeltl out, the Raptors will likely turn to Jonathan Mogbo as their small ball center. RJ Barrett who was a late scratch against the Nets with an illness will play against the Rockets, per Lewenberg.
The Raptors did get Scottie Barnes back last game and he played in 36 minutes against Brooklyn. It should continue to be a normal workload for him.
The Raptors will look to snap their six-game losing streak when they host Fred VanVleet and the Rockets on Dec. 22.
