Despite being in a rebuild, the Toronto Raptors’ franchise value reportedly rose in 2024.

According to a report from Kurt Badenhausen of Sportico, the Raptors are the 10th most valuable franchise in the NBA.

Per Sportico, the Raptors current value is $4.66 billion, which is up from $4.11 billion a year ago.

Part of the reason for the growth, is the NBA signing a new TV deal in July worth $77 billion over 11 years.

For franchises like the Raptors, it gives them more value as the deal will “triple the annual payout to franchises from last season by the end of the agreement,” Badenhausen said.

The Golden State Warriors are the most valuable franchise in the NBA, topping the ranking at $9.16 billion, which is nearly twice Toronto’s value. The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat and Houston Rockets also made the top 10.

The Raptors also remain Canada’s most valuable pro sports franchise, topping the Toronto Maple Leafs who came in as the NHL’s most valuable team at a valuation of $3.66 billion, Sportico reported earlier this year. Toronto’s other major sports franchise the Toronto Blue Jays come in at the 13th most valuable MLB team, with a valuation of $2.27 million, per Sportico.

The Raptors’ value increasing by US$500 million over the last year is a good sign that things are trending upwards for Canada’s lone NBA team.

Raptors share update on Scottie Barnes & Jakob Poeltl

Scottie Barnes is close to returning.

The Toronto Raptors star forward is listed as questionable against the Brooklyn Nets on Dec. 19, according to TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.
