Toronto Raptors legends Vince Carer and Tracy McGrady are now NFL team owners.
The two have finalized the purchase of a minority stake in the Buffalo Bills, making them part of the Bills ownership group, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Carter, McGrady, former Toronto FC star Jozy Altidore, and Gridiron Capital managing partner Tom Burger combine to secure a 10.6 percent stake in the Bills. Private equity firm Arctos Partners also acquired an additional 10 percent share. Team owners Terry and Kim Pegula will maintain control with a majority stake of more than 79 percent in the franchise, per the Associated Press.
The NFL has recently seen Tom Brady with the Las Vegas Raiders, enter the ownership space. Carter and McGrady joining the space as well solidifies the growing trend of former pro athletes purchasing ownership.
Carter and McGrady have now extended their ties past Toronto with the Raptors, becoming key figures with the Bills franchise.
The two Hall of Fame legends add even more star power to a Bills franchise that has seen plenty of success over the years. The Bills are currently eyeing a Super Bowl run this season and Carter and McGrady could see it firsthand as stakeholders.
