RJ Barrett made Toronto Raptors history in the team’s win over the Indiana Pacers on Nov. 18.
Barrett scored a season-high 39 points, which is the most ever scored by a Canadian in a Raptors jersey.
Montreal’s Chris Boucher set the previous record of 38 points in April 2021.
“That’s cool. That’s nice I didn’t know that but that was just a testament to our team. I think I got open on a lot off screens from Jak [Poeltl], [Jonathan] Mogbo, just everybody. Just trusting the work I put in every day and coach putting the ball in my hands and trusting me,” Barrett said.
Barrett dropped his most points in a game against the Miami Heat on Feb. 25, 2022, with 46 points.
Barrett is another player on the Raptors who has seen an increase in his production.
In his last three games he’s averaging 28.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 9.0 assists on 42.1 percent shooting from three.
The 23-year-old is having the best year of his career thus far averaging 32.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.5 assists. It’s early into the season but he’s been making a real case for most improved player of the year.
When the Pacers were trying to make a comeback against the Raptors Barrett took over scoring 15 points in the fourth quarter.
Barrett used his strength to get to the basket and was getting whatever he wanted in the paint.
It was Barrett’s mid-range and three-point shooting that impressed and stood out during his scoring performance. He shot an efficent 13-for-21 from the field and 4-for-8 from downtown.
If Barrett continues this type of scoring pace, he might even be in All-Star conversations come February.
Jakob Poeltl weighs in on his dominant stretch
Jakob Poeltl has been on a tear.
The 29-year-old veteran has been playing the best basketball of his career thus far in the midsts of an injury plagued season for the Toronto Raptors.
He is coming off another dominant effort in a Raptors win over the Indiana Pacers where he put up 30 points, 15 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
