The Toronto Raptors ran out of gas in the second night of a back-to-back, falling 123-103 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Toronto is now 0-4 on their road trip and they have lost 4 straight games.
Raptors come out flat in the second-half
The Raptors did a good job early on pushing the pace and attacking the Lakers in transition. They went into halftime with a two-point lead, but then Toronto unravelled in the second-half. They allowed LeBron James to get going and Austin Reaves got hot. The Raptors had a lot of stagnant possessions and Los Angeles went on a 23-9 run to closeout the third quarter. The Raptors defensive effort was not good and only forced the Lakers into 5 total turnovers, meanwhile Toronto had 16 of their own.
LeBron James continues to own the Raptors
James picked apart the Raptors defense, especially in the second-half. When Anthony Davis left the game with a left eye injury, James picked up the slack. It was his playmaking that was on full display, as James was giving his teammates easy looks. James put up 19 points, 16 assists and 10 rebounds for his second straight triple-double.
Tough night for Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett
If the Raptors were going to win this game in Los Angeles, they needed Quickley and Barrett to deliver. Both players struggled. Barrett finished with 19 points on 5-for-15 shooting from the field and 1-for-7 shooting from deep. Meanwhile, Quickley only scored 12 points on 4-for-15 shooting from the field and 1-for-4 shooting from deep. The Raptors seemed to go away from Gradey Dick in the second-half who got off to a hot start. Dick scored 14 points, but only took 10 shots.
