The Toronto Raptors defeated the Sacramento Kings 131-128 on the night the franchise retired Vince Carter’s No. 15 jersey.

15 Forever

The night belonged to Vince Carter. He was officially honored by the Raptors as his No. 15 jersey is the first jersey retired by the organization. Carter was overcome with emotions as he entered to a hero’s welcome. There was a touching tribute video played on the jumbotron which featured Raptors legends Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, ex-Raptors announcer Chuck Swirsky, Stephen Curry and Drake. Raptors president Masai Ujiri then introduced Carter who delivered a powerful speech, thanking many of the important people who helped shape his career. It was a wonderful ceremony, that ended with Carter’s No. 15 jersey rising to the rafters.

Chris Boucher spark from off the bench

Boucher was stealing the spotlight early. He scored 12 points in the first quarter, helping the Raptors get off to a hot start. He finished the game with 24 points in 24 minutes of action. Boucher was very efficient shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 4-for-6 from three. With the Raptors down many bodies this early in the season, Boucher has given them a nice lift from off the bench.

RJ Barrett & Gradey Dick duo continues to shine

The Barrett and Dick duo carried the Raptors to the finish line. Barrett put up 31 points, 9 rebonds and 6 assists. Despite missing some clutch free throws, Barrett was the biggest bright spot for Toronto in this game as he continues to hit another gear with his offense. Dick scored 22 points and came up with timely buckets. He also came up with a key stop when he hung in there with De’Aaron Fox on an isolation play. Dick forced a turnover that allowed Barrett to take it to the hoop plus the foul for a three-point play. Dick then hit a floater over Keon Ellis to clinch the win for the Raptors.

Next on tap

After an emotional night, the Raptors will travel to Denver to take on the Nuggets on Nov. 4. This will be the first game of the Raptors’ four-game west coast trip.
