Lakers Vs. Raptors Preview: Trying To Snap 2-Game Skid

The Toronto Raptors return home to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Toronto is in the midsts of a two-game losing streak after dropping a heartbreaker to the Denver Nuggets and falling to the Charlotte Hornets on the road.

The Raptors will take on a Lakers team that is also trying to end their two-game slide. After starting the season 3-0 with impressive wins over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings, the Lakers have suffered back-to-back losses on the road to the Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Raptors will be without Scottie Barnes (eye), Kelly Olynyk (back) and Bruce Brown (knee). Immanuel Quickley (pelvis) is doubtful and G Ja’Kobe Walter (shoulder) is questionable. Walter said he’s feeling good, but he has not officially been cleared to play yet.

For the Lakers Christian Wood and F Jarred Vanderbilt (foot) are out. Meanwhile, Anthony Davis (hip) and D’Angelo Russell (back) are probable.

As the injuries have piled up for the Raptors, Gradey Dick has stepped up in a big way. The 20-year-old is coming off a career-high performance of 30 points on Wednesday. He’s now scored 20 points or more twice this year after doing that four times in 60 games as a rookie. Expect another big game from the sophomore.

If Davis is cleared to play he will be a handful for the Raptors to deal with inside. Davis has been a force for the Lakers early in the season, averaging 30.6 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.0 blocks over the team’s first 5 games. Jakob Poeltl, who put up 20 points and 16 rebounds against the Hornets, will have the toughest assignment of the night of trying to contain the Lakers’ star.
