Ja’Kobe Walter is close to making his NBA debut with the Toronto Raptors.
The Raptors have listed its 2024 first-round pick as questionable for Friday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Walter has been recovering from an AC joint injury he suffered prior to training camp.
This is the first time Walter has been listed as anything other than out by Toronto so it’s a good sign that he’s progressing well. He had been practicing with Toronto and spent the last few days with the Raptors 905 at training camp.
If Walter plays against the Lakers, he should slide into the Raptors rotation.
Immanuel Quickley remains doubtful to play and he is expected to miss his fourth straight game since suffering a pelvic bruise in the Raptors season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Scottie Barnes has been ruled out with an orbital fracture and he’s expected to miss at least the next three weeks.
Kelly Olynyk continues to deal with a back injury and there is no timetable for his return. Bruce Brown remains out as he recovers from offseason knee surgery.
As for the Lakers, Christian Koloko will not play against the Raptors. Los Angeles has opted to send Koloko on a G League assignment as the 24-year-old makes his comeback from a blood clotting issue that forced him to miss all of last season with the Raptors.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis are not on the Lakers’ injury report and both are expected to play against Toronto. D’Angelo Russell is listed as probable, while Jarred Vanderbilt and Christian Wood are both out with injuries.
Darko Rajakovic on Gradey Dick’s development
Dick notched a new career-high of 30 points against the Hornets.
The second-year player looked comfortable putting the ball on the deck and finishing at the rim.
Dick shot 11-for-17 from the field and added 3 steals as well. Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic talked about his performance after the game.
