The Toronto Raptors will host the Washington Wizards in Montreal to kickoff their preseason at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Raptors are playing in the 10th annual Canada Series, which brings NBA preseason games to different cities across Canada.
The game in Montreal will have some extra significance for several Raptors and Wizards players. RJ Barrett and Kelly Olynyk are Canadian, while Chris Boucher is from Montreal. Wizards first-round pick Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly are from France, while Kyshawn George went to high school there. George has family in the Montreal area and would travel there often as a kid. He expects to have over 30 family and friends in attendance.
In this game Toronto will be without Scottie Barnes who recently joined the team in Montreal. They will also be without Immanuel Quickley who’s recovering from a thumb sprain, Bruce Brown who is recovering from offseason knee surgery and Ja’Kobe Walter who’s working his way back from a shoulder strain.
Gradey Dick, Jakob Poeltl, Barrett and the Raptors main offseason acquisition Davion Mitchell will be in action. It’ll be interesting to see how the Raptors play defensively as ball pressure and defensive intensity have been a theme throughout training camp.
This will mark Mitchell’s first game with the Raptors along with big man Bruno Fernando and Jared Rhoden.
Former Raptor Valanciunas, will be making his Wizards debut.
