Bruce Brown has undergone an arthroscopic surgical procedure on his right knee, the Toronto Raptors announced.

He will be re-evaluated in three weeks, so Brown will miss the start of training camp at a minimum.

Brown has been dealing with a knee injury since the end of last season.

The 28-year-old said his knee injury was “very frustrating,” per CityNews Toronto’s Lindsay Dunn.

The Raptors acquired Brown from the Indiana Pacers in the Pascal Siakam deal. There was a lot of trade speculation regarding Brown, but nothing materialized after Toronto was unable to acquire a first-round pick for him.

Brown had a team option worth $23 million for this season and the Raptors opted to pick it up this summer.

The injury to Brown likely takes him out of the conversation for Toronto’s 5th starting lineup spot to begin the season. This points to Gradey Dick taking over the spot, which was previously filled by Gary Trent Jr. who signed with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Brown saw his production decline once he joined the Raptors. His knee injury limited him down the stretch. Overall, he averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game last season

The Raptors will begin training camp in early Oct with their preseason set to begin on Oct. 6 and their regular season scheduled to start on Oct. 23 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It appears unlikely that Brown will be ready to go for opening night, but the Raptors will update Brown’s status accordingly.

Nets plan to retire Raptors legend Vince Carter’s jersey

Vince Carter will be honored by the Brooklyn Nets this season.

The Nets announced they’ll retire Carter’s No. 15 jersey on Jan. 25 against the Miami Heat.

They’ll be the first organization to honor Carter as he’s set to head into the Basketball Hall of Fame next month.
