The Toronto Raptors are not expected to be a team in postseason contention for 2024-25. However, they still have some intriguing pieces in Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Jakob Poeltl and others. They should be a competitive team night-to-night, but the makers of NBA 2K25 don’t believe they are going to be very good.

NBA 2K25 is scheduled to release on Sep. 6, which means the player and team ratings for the game have been steadily unveiled over the course of the past month.

There are some expected choices, like having Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid tied for the best overall player with 98 ratings, followed by a tie between Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo at 97.

But the Raptors, from top to bottom, received some surprisingly low ratings. This starts with Barnes. The Raptors star began last season as an 83 and worked his way up to an 85 by the end of the season. Given the natural progression of young players, it was expected that he would see an increase in his 85 overall.

Instead, NBA 2K25 has held him at that 85 to begin this season as well. He is the highest-rated player on the Raptors. Behind him are the former Knicks — Barrett and Quickley — who are both 81s. OG Anunoby — the player they dealt to land Barrett and Quickley — was given a shocking 84 overall.

Poeltl sits behind those two with an 80 overall and Kelly Olynyk rounds out the top five at an 80 as well. The Raptors have the second-worst overall team rating — 80 — in the league, ahead of only the Washington Wizards.

No one is expecting the Raptors to be a very good team this season. However, 2K25 seems to think very lowly of what the Raptors have this season. There are plenty of better options for second-worst team in the league ahead of the Wizards. Barnes, at the very least, could be above an 85 given that’s where he ended last season.

Finally, another former Raptor traded last season, Pascal Siakam, was given an 88 in his first full campaign as a member of the Indiana Pacers. He is the second-highest rated Pacer behind 90 overall guard Tyrese Haliburton, who just finished playing with Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Ron's all time favorite Lakers moment was Bryant's final game when he dropped 60 points. While the Lakers beating the Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, as Metta World Peace hit the game clinching three, will always be a top option, Bryant's final night takes the cake.
