Team Canada’s men’s basketball team has climbed up two spots in the FIBA men’s basketball rankings, despite failing to medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
FIBA released the new rankings on Aug. 15, with Canada moving up to No. 5:

Canada jumped from No. 15 to No. 6 last September after earning bronze at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. It was Canada’s first time on the podium at the World Cup.
Team USA is ranked No. 1 after winning their fifth straight gold medal at the Olympics. Serbia comes in ranked No. 2 after almost knocking off Team USA in the semifinals. Germany is ranked No. 3, followed by France ranked at No. 4.
Just behind Canada ranked at No. 6 is Spain, followed by No. 7 Australia, No. 8 Argentina, No. 9 Latvia and No. 10 Lithuania to round off the top 10.
At the Olympics, Canada finished a perfect 3-0 in Group A. They defeated Greece, Australia and Spain. However, they fell to eventual silver medallist and host France in the quarterfinals.
It was a disappointing tournament for the Canadians as they entered the Olympics with the second best betting odds to win the gold medal just behind the United States.
Canada will now have to wait until the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles to redeem themselves.
This was Canada’s first appearance at the Olympic Games since 2000 in Sydney.
Former Raptors guard Terence Davis works out for Bucks
Former Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis might be getting another shot in the NBA.
Davis has reportedly worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks this summer, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Davis did not play in the NBA last season and only played in seven games in the G League due to an Achilles injury.
The 27-year-old’s NBA career started out strong. He had an impressive rookie season with the Raptors in 2019-20. Davis averaging 7.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 38.8 percent from the field. As a result, he earned second-team All-Rookie honors and he finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting that season.
