Toronto’s new WNBA team is asking fans for suggestions.

The franchise is reaching out to the public to get ideas for the team’s name and logo.

Fans can go to NameYourTeam.ca to share their suggestions to inspire the team’s identity.

Team president Teresa Resch said the franchises’ name and identity has been her first order of business, via CBC News:

“We’re really looking forward to canvassing Canada to get ideas and inspiration. We want to hear from people across Canada; what inspires them, ideas of names, designs of logos, colours, what they want this team to stand for, what inspires them, what they love about Canada.”

The website will take suggestions until Aug. 28 and text message suggestions can be made by texting WNBA to 1-833-662-3664.

The final decision will be shared by the end of 2024, the organization announced.

Toronto’s WNBA team will play out Coca-Cola Coliseum and will have the ability to move up to Scotiabank Arena on occasion. The team will begin play in May of 2026.

Kilmer Sports Ventures paid $115 million US for the team.

Raptors have kept close eye on Christian Koloko’s situation

Christian Koloko has been out of NBA action for over a year.

The Toronto Raptors drafted Koloko with the No. 33 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and he looked like a big frontcourt piece of Toronto’s future.

But then the 7-foot-1 Cameroonian big man faced a career-threatening blood clot issue that forced him to miss all of last season. In January the Raptors unfortunately had to waive the 24-year-old and he has not played since.

However, all is not lost.

Koloko’s agent Calvin Andrews provided a promising update regarding Koloko’s future, per Sports Illustrated Aaron Rose.
