The Toronto Raptors have made some roster moves following Summer League.

The team has waived Sasha Vezenkov and Javon Freeman-Liberty, according to Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy:

There was a lot of speculation regarding Vezenkov’s future with the Raptors. Now, he is free to sign in Greece or wherever he chooses.

Vezenkov is leaving the entire $6,658,536 on the table in the buyout with Toronto and the Raptors will pay nothing. He also doesn’t have a cap hit any longer, per Murphy.

The Raptors acquired Vezenkov on June 27 in a deal with the Sacramento Kings. The trade sent McDaniels to the Kings for Vezenkov, Davion Mitchell, a 2024 second-round pick which Toronto used to select Jamal Shead and a 2025 second-round pick from the Portland Trail Blazers.

Meanwhile, Freeman-Liberty was on a partially guaranteed contract and was only guaranteed for $100K. It would have become $150K tomorrow and $800K if he made the opening day roster. He will have interest from around the league as a two-way player, per Murphy. Freeman-Liberty showed a lot of promise for Toronto, especially in the G League and in Summer League but the Raptors guard room filled up quickly so he is the odd man out.

As a result of the moves, the Raptors will now have 1 NBA roster spot open and 1 more spot for a summer camp invite or Exhibit 10 type of deal, per Murphy.

Murphy also says that the Raptors will now have about $11 million in breathing room beneath the luxury tax.

Raptors drop Summer League finale to Spurs

The Toronto Raptors drop their Summer League finale to the San Antonio Spurs 100-89.

Toronto was without Jonathan Mogbo (back contusion), Gradey Dick (right ankle sprain), Ochai Agbaji (right shin contusion) and Javon Freeman-Liberty (illness).

Despite the loss there were a lot of positive takeaways for the Raptors from this one.
