The annual series has featured 15 teams playing 18 preseason games across six Canadian cities.
This will be the eighth NBA Canada Series game played in Montreal. The Raptors last played a game in Montreal in 2022.
This year’s game against the Wizards will be a homecoming for a few Canadians on the court. Montreal natives Chris Boucher and Quincy Guerrier are both on the Raptors training camp roster. Also Kelly Olynyk and RJ Barrett, who will be in action for Team Canada at the Summer Olympics, are expected to play in this game.
Kyshawn George of the Wizards who the team selected in this year’s NBA Draft was born in Switzerland, but he is the son of Montreal’s Deon George, a former member of Canada’s men’s basketball team.
Raptors general manager Bobby Webster talked about the Raptors returning to Montreal via a press release:
“We have always felt the love from our fans in Montreal and across Quebec, so we are thrilled to be visiting again this fall.”
Tickets for the game will go on sale on Aug. 16.
Former Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. turned down other offers to reunite with Damian Lillard
Gary Trent Jr.’s tenure with the Toronto Raptors is over.
On July 16, Trent Jr. came to terms on a one-year, veteran minimum deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
One of the main reasons why Trent Jr. ended up singing with the Bucks on the minimum is because he wanted to be reunited with Damian Lillard, via Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.
