The Toronto Raptors Summer League playoff hopes are all but over.

The Raptors fall to the Utah Jazz 86-76, which drops their record to 2-1.

This loss likely eliminates the Raptors from the upcoming Summer League playoffs. The top 4 teams make it and there are currently 7 teams undefeated.

Gradey Dick who suffered a right ankle sprain and Johnathan Mogbo who sustained a back contusion in the Raptors second Summer League game were both ruled out for this one.

Therefore, the Raptors started Branden Carlson, Ochai Agbaji, Ja’Kobe Walter, Jamal Shead and Javon Freeman-Liberty who replaced Dick in the lineup.

Here are some takeaways from this game:

Javon Freeman-Liberty has another solid performance

Freeman-Liberty continues to be the Raptors best offensive punch. He had 24 points in the loss against the Jazz. He has dominated the G League and has been a standout player during Summer League. However, unfortunately for Freeman-Liberty his time with the Raptors might be coming to an end. The Raptors have a lot of guard depth and he’s on a partially-guaranteed contract. If Toronto lets him go, he should have plenty of interest elsewhere.

Ochai Agbaji continues to struggle

It’s been a disappointing Summer League for Agbaji. The 24-year-old was supposed to be a standout. However, he has struggled to get shots and his lack of offense continues to be an issue. He shot 4-for-9 from the field in this game and finished with just 9 points.

Ja’Kobe Walter can’t find his rhythm

Walter has been in a shooting slump and he had his worst game of Summer League. The rookie came into this game shooting just 2-for-12 from three-point range and then he shot 0-6 against the Jazz from deep. His defense has been good, but Walter will need to hit shots if he wants to be an impactful player for Toronto this season.

Next on tap

The Raptors will take on the Miami Heat (3-0) on July 19 and then they will get at least 1 more game this weekend.
