The Toronto Raptors are in their rebuild.

After trading O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam last season, the Raptors made it clear they are building around Scottie Barnes.

Barnes, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley makeup the new young trio in Toronto. The Raptors also have young players like Gradey Dick, Ochai Agbaji and the four rookies they drafted in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Ja’Kobe Walter, Jonathan Mogbo, Jamal Shead and Ulrich Chomche will have plenty of opportunities to prove themselves. The Raptors have a young and exciting team but it will take time before they compete at a high level once again.

This rebuild will be a process. Darko Rajakovic talked about how it’s going to be a clean slate for the Raptors heading into the 2024-25 season, via TSN:

“It is a clean slate, this is year 1 of our rebuild. We are starting our rebuild now. So, everything we’re doing right now is to establish the culture and how we want to work and how we want to operate. Obviously we have experience with the players that were on the team last year here and that’s going to help us, but this is really year 1 for us in this rebuild process.”

Heading into last season, the Raptors were still in limbo. They had a roster that was trying to win now, but they were not good enough. After a slow start, the Raptors finally picked a direction.

There will be a lot more clarity going into this season. The Raptors are fully committed to the youth movement and player development.

Masai Ujiri has never been a part of a rebuild, but he guaranteed Toronto will win again. Time will tell if this rebuild goes to plan for the Raptors.

Fardaws Aimaq replaces Drew Timme on Raptors Summer League roster

Las Vegas Summer League kicks off on July 12, specifically for the Toronto Raptors on July 13.

The Raptors have announced a roster change before they kick things off against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Canadian Fardaws Aimaq is replacing Drew Timme.
