Raptors Rumors: Lakers Not Willing To Send First-Round Pick For Bruce Brown

The Toronto Raptors are looking to find a new home for Bruce Brown.

After trying to ship him out at last season’s trade deadline, Toronto opted to keep Brown to find a package that fits their desires.

Now, the Raptors picked up Brown’s $23 million team option and are once again putting him out on the trade market. But, it remains to be seen who will be willing to acquire his services.

With free agency beginning to die down, trades will become the most prevalent way for teams to improve.

Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers were a suitor for Brown last season. Yet, they are not willing to include a first-round pick for him in recent conversations, according to Anthony Irwin of Lakers Daily:

“I’ve heard that they’ve put in a call to Toronto about Bruce Brown…They want a first-round pick for Bruce Brown and I don’t think the Lakers want to give up a first-round pick for Bruce Brown.”

Under the new CBA, teams are becoming more strict about who they acquire or who they are willing to trade away. Nonetheless, trades can still be made, but L.A. currently only has two tradeable first-round picks.

That remains a sticking point for Brown, whether he is worth a first-round pick or not. After some down shooting last season, contending teams may be weary if his three-point shooting can come back up.

In his lone season with the Denver Nuggets, Brown became a hot commodity and now his value seems to have dropped.

All in all, time will tell if Toronto comes down off their asking price or if L.A. or another team coughs up a first-round pick for Brown.

Trade market for Bruce Brown is quiet

The trade market has not picked up for Brown up to this point of free agency.

Admittedly, Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports believes that his market right now is quiet, but the Milwaukee Bucks are a team that has entered the mix.
