Garrett Temple is returning to the Toronto Raptors.

Temple has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Raptors, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski:

The 38-year-old signed a one-year minimum deal to join Toronto last season and will likely be back on another minimum deal with the Raptors next season.

Although Temple didn’t play a whole ton, he became a valuable veteran presence on the team. Temple saw some playing time late in the season due to many Raptors injuries. Overall, he appeared in 27 games for Toronto, averaging 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1 assist per game while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 30 percent from three.

Temple is unlikely to see playing time next season, but he will be able to provide  leadership to the rebuilding Raptors. He is a respected figure on the team.

Temple is a 14-year NBA veteran who has played on 12 teams during his career after first coming into the league in 2009 with the Houston Rockets.

Temple, Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley are the Raptors’ only signings so far this offseason. Toronto has yet to add someone from outside of the organization.

Given how things are playing out for the Raptors, it should remain a relatively quiet free agency period for them.

Gary Trent Jr. may not be offered a deal for mid-level exception

Gary Trent Jr. averaged 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals on 42.6 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from three-point range this past season.

As the NBA free agency market begins to shake out, the mid-level exception may not be there for Trent Jr. According to Michael Grange of Sportsnet, he believes there is ‘real doubt’ surrounding the 25-year-old’s market.
