Scottie Barnes is signing an extension with the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors All-Star intends to sign a five-year maximum rookie extension that could be worth up to $270 million, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Barnes is set to become the highest paid player in Raptors history:

The deal guarantees Barnes $225 million and would become the supermax if he makes an All-NBA team, All-Defensive team or earns MVP honors, per Wojnarowski.

The 22-year-old is coming off a huge season with the Raptors. He averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals while shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and 34.1 percent from deep in 60 games with Toronto. He made his first-ever All-Star appearance.

A hand fracture on March 1 shortened Barnes’ year and forced him to miss the final 22 games of the regular season.

The Raptors drafted Barnes fourth overall in 2021. He won Rookie of the Year after averaging 15.3 points in his first season with Toronto.

The deal solidifies Barnes as the face of the franchise as he will be the building block of the team moving forward.

Barnes cannot sign the deal until July 6 when NBA free agency officially begins.

The Ringer ranks Scottie Barnes No. 41 in top 100 players list

The Toronto Raptors are in the midst of a rebuild.

They’re hoping it won’t be a long one and that their core of Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett will flourish together.

These are the three players the Raptors will be investing in moving forward.

The Ringer recently put out their top 100 player ranked, which includes the three Raptors mentioned. First, they have Barnes ranked at No. 41.
