Bruce Brown knows his time with the Toronto Raptors might be coming to an end soon.

This week the Toronto Raptors are going to have to make a decision on Brown’s $23 million team option for next season.

Toronto will have until June 28 to pick up or decline the option so a decision is likely to come around the NBA Draft.

Brown took to X on June 21 to share a message ahead of NBA free agency:

Should be an interesting week 🤠

According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, the Raptors are expected to pick up Brown’s team option and then look to trade him right after. The Raptors tried to trade Brown at last season’s trade deadline and were seeking a first-round pick but they were unable to find a deal.

If the Raptors decline Brown’s option then Toronto can clear some cap space going into free agency. If they let Brown and Gary Trent Jr. go, the Raptors can create just less than $30 million in cap space. That would give the Raptors enough space to go after some role players.

The Raptors received Brown from the Indiana Pacers as part of the Pascal Siakam trade. Once the Raptors acquired Brown the expectation was that the 27-year-old wasn’t going to be part of Toronto’s long-term plans.

Brown was a key role player for the Denver Nuggets during their 2023 championship run, but unfortunately he didn’t look the same this season, especially with Toronto as a knee injury held him back.

Brown averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 32.3 percent shooting from deep this past season.

Former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse says Kyle Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time

Draymond Green asked former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse who is the greatest Toronto Raptors player of all time on The Draymond Green Show.

“Kyle Lowry,” Nurse said without hesitating.
