Masai Ujiri seems optimistic about the Toronto Raptors future.

The Raptors president spoke at an event and shared an encouraging message about Toronto’s rebuild.

Ujiri made it clear that the Raptors will win again:

“We will rebuild and we will win again in Toronto.”

The Raptors finally decided to enter a rebuild this past season after the franchise traded O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam. Toronto was able to get two promising young talents back in the Anunoby deal in RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley. Meanwhile, in the Siakam deal the Raptors received draft capital they’re hoping to capitalize on.

The Raptors are now committed to building around Scottie Barnes. While Toronto is in a rebuild, Ujiri made it known during the Raptors end-of-season press conference that he doesn’t want it to be a long one:

“I’m patient but I’m not trying to wait 6 years, to be honest. We’re hoping. You hope with these things that you make the right decisions, that we pick the right players. We’re going to be patient but I’m glad that we’re starting off with (Scottie Barnes). Sometimes rebuilds can take 3-6 years. Sometimes teams act before. We’re going to see how this process goes and use our instincts. But patience is going to be a big thing with this team.”

The Raptors have an important 2024 NBA Draft coming up where they can add two young players to its current core.

This is the first time Ujiri has been part of a rebuild so it will be interesting to see how he manages and if he can indeed get the Raptors back to the top of the mountain once again.

Toronto possible landing spot for Patrick Williams

NBA free agency will also be important for the Toronto Raptors as they look to add the right pieces going forward.

The Raptors could be a possible suitor for Patrick Williams. Williams is set to hit restricted free agency this summer.
