Expected Contract For Former Raptor O.G. Anunoby Revealed

O.G. Anunoby is going to get paid this summer.

The former Toronto Raptors wing is reportedly expected to sign a new deal worth at least $35 million per year this offseason, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

The leaguewide expectation is that Anunoby will be back with the Knicks:

“From executives I’ve talked to around the league, Anunoby’s floor appears to be $35 million, and his ceiling is a max contract…two general managers told me they’d pay Anunoby $35 million annually and that a max would be tough because of his injury history.”

Anunoby has a player option for $19.9 million next season that he is essentially guaranteed to opt out of. Once he declines his player option, he’ll head into unrestricted free agency this summer.

The Philadelphia 76ers have been linked to Anunoby. Scotto says Philadelphia will be looking for a 3-and-D small forward and they have the max cap space to make Anunoby a compelling offer. However, the Knicks own Anunoby’s Bird rights so they could outbid Philadelphia’s potential offer.

Considering the Knicks traded for Anunoby, it would be shocking if they didn’t do whatever it took to re-sign him.

The Knicks acquired Anunoby from the Raptors alongside Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and the Detroit Pistons second-round pick which will be No. 31 in this year’s draft. Instead of running the risk of losing Anunoby for nothing this summer, the Raptors decided to trade the 26-year-old to get some value back in return.

Raptors take Tristan Da Silva in latest mock draft

The Toronto Raptors have held workouts with many prospects as they begin to narrow down their selections.

In Yahoo Sports’ latest mock draft, they have Toronto selecting Tristian Da Silva at No. 19.
