The 2024 NBA Draft is set for June 26 and 27.
The Toronto Raptors will be on the clock for picks No. 19 and 31.
There’s a lot of speculation about who the Raptors will take with these two picks, especially at No. 19.
Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo of ESPN put out their latest mock draft and they looked at picks that fill the biggest need and are the best fit for each team.
Givony listed Kyshawn George as the pick that fills the biggest need for Toronto:
“Surrounding primary ball handler Scottie Barnes with ample floor spacing will likely continue to be a priority for Toronto. George hit 41% of his 3-pointers last season and is intriguing to teams as a 6-foot-8 player with guard skills, fluidity-changing speeds and strong instincts on both ends of the floor. George, the No. 19-ranked player in ESPN’s Top 100, has significant upside he can tap into with the late-blooming trajectory.”
George has great handles and size at 6’8″ to see over the defense. He showed off a really nice outside shot, hitting close to 41 percent of his threes on decent volume. This floor spacing ability would be a great fit alongside Scottie Barnes.
Next, Woo listed Johnny Furphy as the best value pick for the Raptors:
“The 19-year-old Furphy has a lot of development ahead of him after a surprise one-and-done campaign, but his size and shooting ability give him a good baseline to find an NBA role. Toronto presumably won’t go this route in the draft after selecting another wing shooter from Kansas, Gradey Dick, in last year’s draft — but if need were no object, I’d take a chance on him.”
In the 2023-24 season Furphy averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds on 46.6 percent shooting from the field and 35.2 percent shooting from deep.
SB Nation reveals ‘perfect’ draft pick for Toronto
The Raptors have a need for some guard and frontcourt depth. Therefore, it seems likely they will take one or the other with their first pick.
Ricky O’Donnell of SB Nation recently listed the ‘perfect’ draft pick for every NBA team and he has the Raptors going with Yves Missi out of Baylor.
