The Toronto Raptors are set to pick No. 19 and No. 31 in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The team will have a couple of chances to add a nice prospect who can grow with their current core.

Mock drafts have been coming out daily and there is beginning to be a common theme of the type of prospect the Raptors are projected to take.

There’s no denying that the Raptors need help in a lot of areas. One of those areas is three-point shooting. The Raptors were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league this past season.

In Gary Parrish’s latest mock draft for CBS Sports he has the Raptors taking an intriguing young shooting talent in Johnny Furphy of Kansas at No. 19:

“Toronto ranked 27th out of 30 teams in 3-point field-goal percentage this season, which is something Furphy could improve in time. The 6-8 guard is young and a work in progress but undeniably talented and a sensible option for a Toronto franchise rebuilding.”

This would mark the second straight year of the Raptors drafting a player from Kansas. Toronto took Gradey Dick No. 13 in the 2023 NBA Draft. Drafting Furphy could feel like a redundant pick, but the Raptors clearly need more shooting.

Furphy flourished once he became a starter at Kansas. He went on to average 11.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals while knocking down 35.4 percent of 4.4 three-point attempts per game in 32.7 minutes in the Jayhawks’ final 18 games of the season.

Furphy’s three-point attempts accounted for 61.2 percent of his shots. However, Furphy did knock down 74.2 percent of 66 attempts around the basket, ranking in the 96th percentile nationwide per NBA.com.

Murphy also knocked down 36.4 percent of 118 catch-and-shoot threes. The 19-year-old has yet to show that he can be a movement shooter so he is going to be a work in progress.

ESPN projects Kyshawn George to Raptors in latest mock draft

Shooting is a big area of need for the Raptors.

In ESPN’s latest mock draft they have the Raptors taking Kyshawn George out of Miami who shot it extremely well from deep.
