It appears Andrew Nembhard will be joining Team Canada this summer at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He is expected to play for the Canadian senior men’s national team at the Olympics.
Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle told reporters Monday night:
Andrew Nembhard I believe is going to be with Team Canada, that’s going to be a great honor for him. I think Mathurin will not be cleared to play for Team Canada, but he will be with the team. So that will be a great experience for those two young Canadian players.”
Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle expects Andrew Nembhard and Bennedict Mathurin to be on the Canadian National Team for the 2024 Olympics this summer.

Nembhard was not part of Canada’s core group of players that had made a three-year commitment to play for the national team in 2022. The 24-year-old did represent the senior team at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. However, he was not a member of the team at the 2020 FIBA Olympic qualifiers in Victoria. He also wasn’t on the team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup last summer.
It’s hard to imagine Nembhard not being a part of Team Canada this summer. He had a solid postseason with the Pacers, averaging 14.9 points and 5.5 assists per game. Nembhard shot it 56 percent from the field and 48.3 percent from three-point range. He would serve as a nice backup guard behind Jamal Murray and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who are both expected to start for Team Canada.
As for Bennedict Mathurin, Carlisle mentioned the 21-year-old might not be cleared in time to play. He would’ve been a potential bench option for the Canadian team.
Tipoff for the group stage at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is set for July 27.
