As the 2024 NBA Draft inches closer, a name that is gaining traction is Enrique Freeman out of Akron.
A lot of options loom for the Toronto Raptors, especially in the second-round. That back end of the draft will feature some teams taking swings on prospects with the hope of developing them.
An interesting wrinkle of this draft process is to monitor whose stock rises and falls. Teams are wanting to see players workout and Enrique Freeman seems to be catching scouts’ eyes.
Toronto interviewed Freeman along with many other teams, per Sarah Todd of Deseret News. The Raptors have pick No. 31 in the second-round, which is ideal for snagging a player at the beginning of this round.
As June 26 and 27 draw closer, an NBA scout points out some key qualities in Freeman’s game that could earn him a standard NBA contract:
“He is without a doubt the ideal candidate for a two-way contract. But I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets picked and gets a standard deal. He plays with so much joy and so much determination. His defense alone should earn him an extra look.”
Freeman is a 6’7″, 207 pound forward who had an impressive senior season for the Akron Zips. He put up 18.6 points, 12.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest on 58.4 percent shooting from the field along with 37 percent shooting from deep.
A theme for Toronto has been finding lengthy and athletic forwards that can guard and hit threes. As Scottie Barnes leads the charges, finding him some running mates and shooting will be important.
In terms of being able to come off the bench and provide some spacing and rim protection, Freeman fits that bill. It will be interesting to see where Freeman falls.

In addition to finding some center depth, another capable guard behind Immanuel Quickley could go a long way as well.
Kyle Boon of CBS Sports projects Isaiah Collier out of USC going to Toronto at No. 19.
