Former Toronto Raptors wing O.G. Anunoby is coming off an impressive half a season with the New York Knicks.
The Knicks traded for him last year. They sent RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and the No. 31 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft (via the Detroit Pistons) to the Raptors.
The Knicks were immediately a better team with Anunoby in the lineup, going 20-3 with him during the regular season.
Anunoby will be a hot commodity this summer. He is expected to decline his $19.9 million player option for next season, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports:
“Anunoby is widely expected to decline his $19.9 million player option for next season after being dealt to New York before the trade deadline. Of note: While league personnel are of the mind Siakam will certainly be re-signing with Indiana, there was word circling among team officials at last week’s NBA Draft Combine that Anunoby’s situation with the Knicks is not as cut and dried. Perhaps those signals to rival teams will only help Anunoby elicit a larger dollar figure from the Knicks. But various teams left Chicago with the belief that Anunoby could reach unrestricted free agency and consider deals from other franchises in addition to New York, sources said.”
The Philadelphia 76ers are reportedly interested in the 26-year-old and could make him a big offer. Anunoby played under Nick Nurse with the Raptors.
The Knicks can sign the forward to a contract worth up to $245 million over five years, should New York be forced to offer him a maximum contract.
Considering how much success the Knicks had with Anunoby, it seems likely that they will do whatever it takes to lock him up long term.

Anunoby is set to get paid this summer.
He is reportedly expected to get $35 million annually on a multi-year deal, according to SNY’s Ian Begley.
