Vince Carter will have his No. 15 jersey retired by the Brooklyn Nets next season.
The Nets made the announcement on May 15:
It’s official: We’re raising @mrvincecarter15’s jersey to the rafters next season.
And we invited a pair of Nets legends to assist with the announcement.

Carter played four and a half seasons with the Nets while they were in New Jersey. He averaged 23.6 points per game during his time with the franchise. He owns their single-season record with 2,070 points in the 2006-07 season.
Carter is third in Nets franchise history in points and is in the Nets’ top 10 in numerous other categories.
It is a little surprising that the Nets are the first team to retire Carter’s jersey and not the Toronto Raptors.
He made a name for himself during his time in Toronto and he put the team on the map.
He was the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1999 with the Raptors, won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000 and he led Toronto to its first-ever playoff series win in 2001. Carter was a five-time All-Star with the Raptors.
Carter was then dealt by the Raptors to New Jersey on Dec. 17, 2004 and played with the Nets through the 2008-09 season.
Carter has been inducted to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2024.
He already made it clear that when he is officially inducted, he will be going into the Hall of Fame as a Raptor.
Carter also mentioned that his former Raptors teammate and cousin Tracy McGrady will be one of the individuals involved in his induction.
Will the Raptors retire Carter’s jersey next?
Raptors president Masai Ujiri already teased plans to honor Carter saying “it’s a secret.”
Given the recent clues and the Raptors about to celebrate their 30th season as a franchise, it does seem likely that Toronto will announce that they are retiring Carter’s jersey soon.
