The Toronto Raptors most important free agent decision this summer will be internal.
The team’s main priority will be to lock up restricted free agent Immanuel Quickley to a long-term deal.
Outside of that, unless the Raptors decline Bruce Brown’s player option and allow Gary Trent Trent Jr. to leave in free agency, they will not have significant cap space above the mid-level exception.
The Raptors could still look to bring in some complimentary role players to put around their young core of Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Quickley.
Here are some possible free agent targets for Toronto.
Malik Monk is a name that should get a lot of attention this summer. In his second season with Sacramento, the 26-year-old Monk averaged 15.4 points and 5.1 assists in 26 minutes per game, while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 35 percent from three. He would be a solid replacement for Trent Jr. in the Raptors starting lineup if Trent Jr. leaves this summer.
Another name the Raptors could target is Isaiah Hartenstein. He could be a solid backup big man to Jakob Poeltl or could even replace him if the Raptors decide they want to trade him. While averaging career-highs in minutes (24.9), rebounds (8.3) and steals (1.1), Hartenstein started in 49 games for New York and was a huge boost to their frontcourt.
Tyus Jones is another potential target for the Raptors. He could serve as a nice backup to Quickley. However, the Raptors electing to go with two small guards could be an issue.
De’Anthony Melton is another player the Raptors could target. He could be a nice fit in Toronto at a low cost. Melton is 25-years old and is a versatile defender. He is also a career 37 percent from three.
Raptors trio seen spending time together in Toronto
Barnes, Quickley and Gradey Dick were seen in Toronto spending time with each other.
That included the three coming together to create a TikTok that was posted on Dick’s account.
