The 2024-25 season will be a special one for the Toronto Raptors.

It will be their 30th anniversary, marking another milestone for the franchise. This could mean some special things happening throughout the course of next season to commemorate how far this organization has come.

Something that has been a talking point for several years now is bringing back the classic purple dinosaur jerseys that Vince Carter wore during his tenure with the Raptors.

That may finally be happening as they were teased at the end of the latest episode of Open Gym. A jersey that is viewed as one of the best ever would be fitting to bring back given the anniversary.

Carter is expected to receive some sort of celebration for his induction into the Hall of Fame. However, Raptors president Masai Ujiri was reluctant to reveal any details on what he has planned for the legend.

This is a no brainer decision for Ujiri as Carter was a five-time All-Star for the Raptors. In addition to clinching the franchise’s first playoff berth in 2000 and series win in 2001.

While there were some harsh feelings following his trade to the New Jersey Nets, he set the Raptors up for success down the line.

As time passed, those wounds healed and Carter is now recognized for what he did for the franchise. It’s important to recognize the great players that have played for the franchise.

Some recent examples being Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard and DeMar DeRozan. While Leonard only stayed one year, he brought a championship to the city of Toronto.

On the other hand, Lowry and DeRozan remained committed to the team. Resulting in some strong teams and playoff runs.

All in all, it will be intriguing to see what Ujiri has up his sleeve for the upcoming anniversary.

Former Raptor Norman Powell believes Vince Carter deserves statue first

As Carter’s induction into the Hall of Fame looms, perhaps the next step in cementing his legacy is a statue outside Scotiabank Arena.

While there are other candidates, former Raptor Norman Powell believes Carter deserves a statue first.
