The Toronto Raptors ended their 15-game losing streak against the Milwaukee Bucks on April 5.
It was Toronto’s first win since March 3. The Raptors pulled off the big upset thanks to key contributions from Gary Trent Jr. who scored 31 points, RJ Barrett who chipped in with 26 and Immanuel Quickley who was 1 assist shy of a triple-double. He poured in 25 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 9 assists.
The Raptors who have been hampered with injuries got three players back for this one and it helped the team’s effort immensely. Ochai Agbaji, Trent Jr. and Barrett all returned to action.
This was a solid win for the Raptors as they finally put an end to their frustrating losing streak. Head coach Darko Rajakovic talked about the win via Sportsnet:
“It feels really good. I’m really obviously proud of all of our team. Desire to win, all the stuff we had to overcome. During the game, guys came out, they were together and they really deserved this win tonight. We were not perfect and that’s fine because the game is never perfect but our intentions, following the game plan, just our desire to win tonight was on a high level. Proud of my guys.”
Toronto is not as bad as their record indicates. This is a team that has had to deal with a lot this season. Rajakovic mentioned how this win puts the Raptors on the right track and he hopes the team can finish the season strong.
“It just gives you conformation that work pays off, that they are on the right track and they will continue building on this. It’s great momentum for this group over here and I hope we stay healthy until the end of the season and continue getting better.”
Next up for Raptors
The Raptors will look to make it 2 wins in a row when they host the Washington Wizards on April 7.
