The Toronto Raptors have dropped their 14th game in a row.
The Los Angeles took care of business at Scotiabank Arena to hand the Raptors their longest losing streak in franchise history.
LeBron James scored 23 points, Anthony Davis had 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Lakers beat the Raptors 128-111 on Tuesday night for their 7th win in 8 games.
After the game LeBron talked about his respect for Toronto after all these years per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg:
“Mutual respect and love every time I come here and play. Throughout my career they’ve shown me nothing but love, even during the battles in the postseason. These fans are always appreciative of me and I try to give it back to them when I step out on the floor.”
The Raptors saw some familiar faces return to the starting lineup in this one as RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley returned to action.
It was Barrett’s first appearance since his younger brother Nathan died. Barrett scored 28 points and Quickley added 20 for the Raptors. Toronto is now just 3 more losses away from tying their franchise-worst 17 game losing streak which they set in 1997-98.
Raptors’ guard Gary Trent Jr. sat for rest and Ochai Agbaji was out as well. Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl and DJ Carton were out as well.
Bruce Brown left the game in the fourth quarter because of a sore right knee.
The Lakers held a 64-58 edge at the intermission. James and Davis each scored nine points in the third as the Lakers extended their lead to 100-79 after three.
The Lakers cruised in the fourth as they get a much needed win. With the loss, Toronto now has a 2 game cushion on the Memphis Grizzlies for the sixth-worst record in the league.
If the season ended today, the Raptors would have a 46% percent chance of keeping their first-round pick.
