Scottie Barnes underwent surgery to repair the fracture to the middle finger on his left hand, the Raptors announced per TSN’s Josh Lewenberg.

There is no recovery timetable at the moment, but it appears that Barnes’ season is likely over.

The average time lost for metacarpal fractures that require surgery is 18 games, per Jeff Stotts.

There are 21 games left in the Raptors season, so it would not make sense to rush Barnes back considering where Toronto stands.

The 22-year-old was injured in Toronto’s matchup against the Golden State Warriors and was originally ruled out indefinitely.

If this is the end of Barnes’ All-Star season, there is a lot for the third year player to be proud of. Barnes took the leap that everyone was hoping to see.

The forward is the only player in the NBA to lead their team in all stats this season:

Barnes made the All-Star Team for the first time in his career this season and was averaging 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game at the time of his injury. In 60 games so far in 2023-24, Barnes had scored at least 20 points 34 times and had 25 double-doubles. He also notched 4 triple-doubles.

The Raptors fully committed to building around Barnes when the team traded O.G. Anunoby and Pascal Siakam.

Barnes along with Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett make up the new core for Toronto.

There is a lot Barnes can build on from this season as he looks to come back even better next season.

Raptors sign Kelly Olynyk to multi-year contract extension

Kelly Olynyk is staying with the Raptors.

The veteran center has agreed to a contract extension with the Raptors.

The deal will keep Olynyk under contract with Toronto through the 2025-26 season.
