One of the first players Scottie Barnes was compared to coming into the NBA was Draymond Green.

Both possess great size and playmaking abilities. However, Barnes definitely has a higher ceiling than Green.

The All-Star developed his offensive game this season. He has increased his scoring average to 19.9 points per game and has been able to add a three-point shot to his arsenal.

Green recognizes Barnes’ talent level. He spoke highly about him following the Warriors victory over the Toronto Raptors on March 1 via Josh Lewenberg:

“Scottie is the face of the franchise. He’s going to have to continue to score the basketball. I think that’s going to be a big thing for Scottie. All the things he does on the court, he’s a swiss army.”

Green then talked about how Barnes has been able to grow in the role of a point-forward this season and thinks he will have a better career than his:

“Me playing the point forward position, I’m not going to sit up here and act like I was the first one to do it, but I think I’ve done it a little differently than most and he’ll take that to another level…I think Scottie will do way more than I ever did.”

That is some high praise from Green.

Of course, playing the point-forward position is something Green excelled in throughout his NBA career, leading to four championships.

Future is bright for Barnes

Barnes has seen tremendous improvement in his third season and there is still a lot of room for him to grow.

The 23-year-old might be done for the year with an injury to his left hand, but he will be back better than ever.
