Javon Freeman-Liberty is getting his chance

The Toronto Raptors have converted guard Javon Freeman-Liberty from a two-way contract to a multi-year NBA contract, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania:

The Toronto Raptors are converting two-way guard Javon Freeman-Liberty on a new multiyear NBA contract, agents Keith Glass and Luke Glass told @TheAthletic @Stadium. Freeman-Liberty, has been impressive with the G League’s Raptors 905 this season, averaging 23.8 points and 6.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in 21 contests.

Raptors head coach talked about Freeman-Liberty getting his two-way contract converted to a standard NBA deal per Sportsnet’s Michael Grange:

“Javon is quiet guy who came into camp and made a lot of noise.”

Rajakovic also said that he is hopeful of getting Freeman-Liberty regular minutes at some point over the final stretch of the season.

The 24-year-old deserves this opportunity. He is coming off some great performances with Raptors 905.

He put up back-to-back 30+ performances as the 905 started to rack up some wins.

Freeman-Liberty hopes to find his place with the Raptors. He should see some action in the coming weeks.

Freeman-Liberty played two seasons at Valparaiso before transferring to DePaul. He went undrafted in 2022 before joining the Chicago Bulls where he spent last season in the G League.

The signing of Freeman-Liberty fills Toronto’s final roster spot. However, D.J. Carton’s 10-day contract will expire Friday night, creating an additional roster spot for Toronto to use if they wish.

Raptors take on Warriors

The Raptors get set to host the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have won 8 of their last 10 games and 7 straight on the road.

Toronto is currently 4 games back of the Atlanta Hawks for the final Play-In in the Eastern Conference.
