The Toronto Raptors have had a wild season thus far.

The team is having a down year and they recently made two significant trades sending O.G. Anunoby to the New York Knicks and Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers.

It is clear now that the Raptors are rebuilding and wins and loses don’t really matter for the rest of this season.

Darko Rajakovic is focused on player development and building positive habits. One of those positive habits for the Raptors is them sharing the basketball.

The Raptors are second in assists in per game with 29.6. They are behind the Pacers who lead the league with 31.1 assists per game.

Toronto has done an excellent job this season moving the ball. Rajakovic’s philosophy is making sure guys play unselfishly.

As a result Toronto is racking up the assists game to game and have a chance to make history in their next contest against the Houston Rockets.

As of now the Raptors have recorded at least 25 assists in 30 consecutive games, tying the longest such streak in NBA history.

If they record at least 25 assists in their next matchup against the Rockets, they will officially own the record:

The Raptors making NBA history in a rebuild year would be a big accomplishment.

Dennis Schroder is leading the Raptors in assists with 6.3 per game followed by Immanuel Quickley with 6.1 per game and Scottie Barnes with 5.7 per game.

Toronto is coming off a win over the Chicago Bulls in which they had 24 assists. When the Raptors move the ball, good things happen.

Rajakovic’s kind gesture for this season

The Raptors have had a major incentive when it comes to recording assists this season.

Rajakovic and his wife, Gaga, will donate $20 to children’s hospitals for every Raptors assist this season.

Every assist will be counted towards the donation, dating back to the season opener.
