The Toronto Raptors have looked a lot better since trading away O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and a 2024 second-round pick (via Detroit).

The Raptors have much more balance in their starting lineup and their offensive has been more dynamic.

The future looks bright with Scottie Barnes, Barrett and Quickley leading the way.

The biggest question that remains for the Raptors is what will the team do will Pascal Siakam?

Siakam’s name has been in a ton of trade rumors as the Raptors could look to move on from him before the trade deadline.

The Sacramento Kings are one team that has recently been linked to Siakam.

But according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick, the Kings don’t have much optimism when it comes to re-singing Siakam in the summer if they trade for him:

“According to two league sources, the Kings should have very little — if any — optimism regarding the prospect of Siakam re-signing in the summer if they were to land him. With that in mind, it should surprise no one that the Kings are unwilling to include second-year forward Keegan Murray in a deal.”

Per Amick, Siakam doesn’t view the Kings as a good long-term fit:

“Siakam is seeking a full-term, max-salary deal no matter where he ultimately lands. And while Siakam has not asked for a trade, the sources say he doesn’t view the Kings as a good long-term fit if the Raptors choose to move him.”

Amick says that there is a possibility that the Raptors and Siakam will agree on an extension, if the trade market isn’t compelling enough for Masai Ujiri and the Raptors.

Trade season continues

The trade deadline is on Feb. 8 so there is still a lot of time and things could change.

Siakam remains the hottest name on the trade market as teams continue to inquire about the two-time All-Star.
