The Toronto Raptors made a big splash trading O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick (via Detroit)
The trade has worked out great for Toronto so far as they are 3-1 since acquiring their new players.
League sources now expect that the Raptors will move on from Pascal Siakam who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
There have been many teams linked to the two-time All-Star and he’s been the hottest name in trade rumors.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes on #thisleague Uncut, there may be a deal that could resurface between the Atlanta Hawks and Raptors:
“Pascal [Siakam] and Dejounte [Murray] might be a swap there. That definitely could happen…I wouldn’t be surprised if that deal started to resurface again.”
The Hawks have been a prominent potential suitor for Siakam dating back to the offseason.
The Raptors reportedly turned down a deal the Hawks had made for Siakam. The Hawks are in an interesting position of their own. They are 12th in the Eastern Conference and a half game back of the Raptors.
The Hawks could either sell or look to get aggressive and try to save their season.
The Murray and Trae Young duo hasn’t gone to plan, so the Hawks could look to trade Murray for a player who is a better fit alongside Young.
Siakam would in theory be a great fit with Young, however the Raptors trading for Murray doesn’t make sense now since they already acquired Quickley.
Quickley is the Raptors point guard and the team seems committed to him long term. Therefore, there isn’t a fit with Murray on Toronto.
Many teams interested in Siakam
Many teams have already been linked to Siakam and this could cause a bidding war.
Recently, the Sacramento Kings had a package deal ready for Siakam, which didn’t get done.
