The Pascal Siakam trade rumours continue to ramp up. It seems like there is a new potential suitor every day.
The Golden State Warriors have recently been linked to Siakam. The Toronto Raptors take on the Warriors on Jan. 7 so there could be some chatter between both teams regarding a potential deal.
The Warriors are still in win-now mode and they could be looking to add a star to help Stephen Curry.
Meanwhile, they have young pieces with upside that could be of big interest to the Raptors. Two names that have popped up are Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. Both players are reportedly unhappy with their current roles with the Warriors.
However, don’t count on the Warriors moving on from Kuminga.
According to Sportsnet’s Michael Grange, the Warriors are unwilling to include Kuminga in a deal for Siakam:
“According to multiple sources, the Warriors are loathe to trade Kuminga, who is seen as a potential star who can help them win now and in the future, the rare piece on the roster who can help Golden State both support Steph Curry in the present and transition to a successful post-Curry future, should it ever come.”
It would be hard to imagine the Raptors trading Siakam to the Warriors without getting back Kuminga who is Golden State’s most compelling prospect.
Besides Siakam, there are other players on Toronto’s roster who could garner a lot of interest from contending teams.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fishcer, the Boston Celtics are looking for frontcourt help and Chris Boucher is someone they have liked for a while:
“The Celtics would definitely like to find a couple of guys and it sounds like in the frontcourt behind Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford…Chris Boucher is someone for example who the Celtics have liked for a while.”
Raptors could get active
The Raptors have already made one big trade and they could look to do a whole lot more.
They have some veterans on their team who could garner a lot of interest closer to the trade deadline.
