The Pascal Siakam trade rumors continue to heat up.
Since the Raptors traded O.G. Anunoby to the New York Knicks, league sources believe Toronto could move on from Siakam before the trade deadline.
Siakam is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer so the Raptors could look to cash in on a deal for him rather than potentially lose him for nothing.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Detroit Pistons have emerged as a potential suitor for Siakam:
“The chatter among NBA executives surrounding Siakam’s potential landing spots has now centered on Indiana, Sacramento and Detroit. Yes, the Pistons keep signaling to opposing executives an interest in buying, sources said, instead of selling off veterans from the league’s lowest team.”
The Pistons are an interesting team that has been brought up. They seem like a team that would be looking to sell, but at 3-31 the Pistons could look to get aggressive and add a veteran star.
Fischer also mentions the Pacers and Kings. Both teams have been linked to Siakam in the past. The Raptors take on the Kings tonight.
As the trade deadline approaches, it’ll be interesting to see what the Raptors do with Siakam.
At this point a trade would make sense to officially enter the Scottie Barnes era.
However, the Raptors don’t have to rush in making any major decision. They still have a full month to see how Siakam fits with this current group along with the newest additions of RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
Siakam could help a lot of contenders
It’s easy to see why Siakam would have a lot of interest around the league. He is quietly putting together an impressive All-Star type season averaging 22.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Siakam is a two-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player who won a championship with the Raptors back in 2019.
He could be the missing piece for a lot of contenders looking to get over the top.
