The Toronto Raptors traded O.G. Anunoby along with Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round draft pick (via Detroit).
The Raptors drafted O.G. in 2017 and he spent his entire career in Toronto playing in 395 games with the franchise.
The trade meant a brand new start for Anunoby’s career.
Anunoby made his official debut with the Knicks on Jan. 1, 2024 and he was terrific.
Anunoby scored 17 points, hauled in 6 rebounds and finished with a game-high plus-19 in 35 minutes before fouling out late in the fourth quarter as the Knicks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 112-106:

Knicks fans got a close look at Anunoby’s very valuable 3-And-D skillset.
Anunoby’s first bucket in a Knicks jersey was of course a corner triple which is his signature shot:

Then Anunoby showcased his lockdown defense, which led to a triple in transition:

Anunboy already looks like a great fit with the Knicks. As for Precious Achiuwa he was scoreless with 3 rebounds in 9 minutes. Meanwhile Malachi Flynn was out with a sprained right ankle.
Anunoby’s impact with the Knicks
The Knicks traded for O.G. because they want to take the next step in the Eastern Conference. Giving up on RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickly is tough, but they bring in one of the best defensive wings in the league and a player who can space the floor and hit threes.
It’s one game, but the Knicks already look great with the addition of Anunoby.
