Raptors Rumors: Toronto Expected To Continue To Explore Trades Involving Pascal Siakam

The Toronto Raptors traded O.G. Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The trade comes in the mists of the Raptors being involved in several trade rumors.

For the Raptors they ship off Anunoby a player who was certainly going to decline his player option for two dynamic scorers in Barrett and Quickley.

Barrett is from Canada so he will have a nice change of scenery playing for his hometown team. Meanwhile, Quickley is having a career season and will give the Raptors a true dynamic scoring guard one they have lacked.

The Raptors make the trade following a loss to the Boston Celtics that put them to 12-19 and 12th in the Eastern Conference.

The Raptors will now have a starting lineup that likely features Quickley, Barrett, Scottie Barnes, Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl.

However, the Raptors may not be done making moves.

According to Wojnarowski, the Raptors could also look to move Siakam who is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer:

“Toronto is expected to continue to explore trades involving forward Pascal Siakam, but there are no deals with traction now, sources said. Both Siakam and Anunoby could be free agents this summer.”

Toronto could be looking to go in a full on reset with their franchise if they do trade Siakam for a haul. Trading Siakam would make a lot of sense since he is redundant with Barnes and now Barrett is there on the wing.

Siakam and Chris Boucher are the only players on the Raptors who remain from the 2018-19 championship winning team.

Masai makes a big deal

After a season and a half of speculation and ongoing trade rumors, Masai Ujiri finally strikes on a big deal and now the question is will he make another? Time will tell.
