The Toronto Raptors don’t appear ready to make any major decisions just yet.

Trade season is heating up and with over a month and a half left to go until the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline, it seems like Toronto still doesn’t know what their plan of attack is moving forward.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Raptors still haven’t made long term decisions when it comes to Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby:

“Toronto just isn’t there yet on those decisions.”

Siakam and Anunoby are set to become unrestricted free agents next summer and there is some belief that the Raptors could try and trade at least one of them to get a haul in return.

With the Raptors 12-18 and in 12th in the Eastern Conference it looks like Masai Ujiri is still evaluating the roster.

To this point the Raptors haven’t shown that they are close to contention. Rather they look like a team that is headed for a rebuild around their budding star Scottie Barnes.

Ujiri hasn’t made it clear either that he has intentions of re-signing Siakam or Anunoby.

Therefore, Raptors management has some big decisions to make soon because if not traded before the deadline the Raptors could lose both players for nothing in free agency.

If Toronto continues to slip down the stretch, there might be no choice for Ujiri and the Raptors to explore all trade options close to the deadline.

Next up for the Raptors

Coming off a 30-point victory against the Washington Wizards Toronto now heads to Boston to take on a tough Celtics team.

Then the Raptors will see the Detroit Pistons on the second night of a back-to-back.

To this point the Pistons are on a 27-game losing streak. If the Pistons lose to the Celtics to make it 28 loses in a row, then one more loss against Toronto will give them the longest losing streak in NBA history.
