A topic of conversation that has come up recently is if Kawhi Leonard deserves a statue for his efforts with the Toronto Raptors.

Kawhi Leonard helped lead the Raptors to its first ever NBA championship in his lone season with the team.

Leonard had one of the greatest individual postseason runs in recent memory. This included him hitting an iconic Game 7 buzzer-beating game-winning shot against the Philadelphia 76ers.

He went on to win the NBA Finals MVP as well. Then Leonard took his talents to Los Angeles when he signed with the Clippers just a month after winning a title with the Raptors.

Former Raptors player C.J. Miles recently weighed in on if Leonard deserves a status on the ‘Run Your Race’ podcast:

“It’s hard to say yes, but I could see why you could argue it. It’s hard to say yes, but it’s the first one, and he makes the shot that gets them there… Getting a statue, it’s a lot of groundwork that goes into getting a statue. Like, he kinda got handed stuff that was already there. Not disrespecting what he did. But if you look at the other statues, it’s all guys that went through the hard times in that place to get there. He didn’t have to do that. Let’s look at all the statues. Who got statues? Think about what they dealt with. They carried that arena to a certain spot to get that. And they took the blame that came with them not getting there when they thought they should have.”

Does Kawhi deserve a statue in Toronto? 🤔

“It’s a lot of groundwork going into getting a statue. Like he kind of got handed stuff that was already there too. Not disrespecting what he did but if you go look at the other statues…”

Whether or not Leonard deserves a statue will continue to be an on-going debate. However, there’s no denying that even without a statue Leonard will always be a legend in Toronto.

C.J. Miles shares wholesome story about Toronto

C.J. Miles spent two seasons with the Raptors and enjoyed his time in Toronto.

He recently shared a story about a Raptors fan recognizing him right after he signed with Toronto.
