The trade rumors continue as the unofficial start of trade season is officially here.
The Toronto Raptors are expected to be in the mists of trade speculation leading up to the trade deadline.
Toronto right now is 10-14 and are at a crossroads when it comes to the direction of their franchise.
However, it looks like sooner rather than later Masai Ujiri is going to have to make a big decision about the future of the franchise.
According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer a big Raptors decision seems inevitable:
“Toronto’s going to be forced to make a decision, one general manager told Yahoo Sports.”
Fischer confirms that the Atlanta Hawks have been the suitor most connected to Pascal Siakam. He also mentions the Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings who are also interested in acquiring Siakam. Although, he says the Kings and Pacers are more interested in acquiring O.G. Anunoby.
If the Kings do business with the Raptors, Fischer says they are going to have to pay up:
“For Sacramento to do business with Toronto, the Raptors are expected to seek sweet-shooting Keegan Murray in exchange for either of their talented forwards.”
Trying to pry Murray away from the Kings should be difficult since Sacramento is high on him.
Will the Raptors make a big trade?
Things are starting to get interesting and more rumors are certainly going to pop up in the coming weeks and months.
If Toronto is openly shopping Siakam and Anunoby it seems like there are many potential suitors for them to do business with. It will come down to if Ujiri gets the return he’s looking for. Raptors have been involved in trade rumors for years and haven’t struck a big deal to this point.
However, with the way this season is looking and with Anunoby and Siakam set to become unrestricted free agents next summer, it feels like something has to give. We’ll see what happens.
