The Toronto Raptors will be a team contenders are keeping an eye on as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches.

The Raptors are 9-11 and could be looking to sell if they continue to be an inconsistent team.

Two of the Raptors top players in Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby are set to become unrestricted free agents next summer.

Both players will attract a lot of interest from teams looking to win now.

According to Jovan Buda of The Athletic, the Los Angles Lakers will be monitoring the Raptors situation:

“They’re still evaluating their needs and will continue to monitor the league, including potential fire sales in Toronto, Washington, Utah, Brooklyn and/or Charlotte that could make useful rotation players available.”

The Lakers are trying to win a championship this season and will likely be aggressive once again at the trade deadline as they were last season.

A player like Siakam or Anunoby would be a great fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But of course other teams will be interested as well.

The Raptors need to decide what long-term direction they want to take. Masai Ujiri said he will see how the players progress in the new system and will go from there. However, if Toronto continues to sink they may have no choice but to call for a fire sale.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Raptors perform from here. They could very well become the biggest domino at the 2024 trade deadline.

Christian Koloko update

Christian Koloko continues to do drills with coaches after practice, however there is still no timetable for his return:

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic says there has been no status change for Christian Koloko who has been out since Summer League with unspecified respiratory issue. He continues to do drill work with coaches after practice with no timetable for him ramping up to full practice.

Koloko has been ruled out indefinitely with a respiratory issue.
