Drake has become one of the most famous rappers in the world and is a big fan of the Toronto Raptors.

His OVO brand has become the inspiration of many Raptors’ jerseys throughout the years, with this year’s being no exception. Toronto’s City Edition jerseys and special In-Season Tournament court pays homage to the brand.

Drake has not been courtside at Scotiabank Arena the past few seasons due to releasing a surplus of music the past two years. A lot has changed since the last time he was at a Raptors game and made his first appearance of the season on Nov. 17.

The rapper now seems to be a regular, as he was sitting courtside on Nov. 29  as Toronto took on the Phoenix Suns. Which turned out to be an impressive 112-105 win for the Raptors, snapping the Suns seven-game winning streak.

Drake even took the time to stop by the locker room to speak with the team following a huge win:

He referred to Scottie Barnes as his ‘dog,’ signifying that he has respect for Barnes’ game and the two have a friendly relationship.

After the game, Barnes said, ‘I got that dog in me,’ making a connection to the rapper’s comments:

Barnes was the team’s leading scorer against the Suns with 23 points, 7rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks. On the year, he is averaging 19.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.3 blocks.

His stellar performance against Phoenix earned him the ‘win the day’ chain. The chain has become a new tradition for this Raptors team under head coach Darko Rajakovic.

Next up for Toronto

The Raptors continue their mini three-game home stand on Dec. 1 against the New York Knicks.

This will be the first of four games of their regular season series, as this game will be a good test for the Raptors.

If they want to get into the playoff race, they have to consistently beat teams like the Knicks.
