The Toronto Raptors, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and Canada Basketball have announced a new partnership initiative.

The shorts of Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team uniform will feature the Toronto Raptors logo for several upcoming games and tournaments ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Two-time Olympian and Senior Women’s National Team guard Kia Nurse showed her appreciation towards the initiative:

“On behalf of my teammates with Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team, I’d like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to MLSE and the Toronto Raptors for their continued support of not only our team but also growing the game for girls and women across Canada.”

To celebrate the announcement a girls basketball clinic was hosted by the organizations at MLSE Launchpad on Wednesday. There was participants from the facility’s program partners, basketball program and local schools.

The Raptors and MLSE have been advocates and partners of Canada Basketball, their women’s national teams and their development program since the inception of the franchise.

The organizations continue to work together to contribute to the ongoing development and success of Canada’s women’s national teams.

The Senior Women’s National Team are hosting a training camp in Toronto this week in preparation for the upcoming FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Medellín, Colombia.

If Canada finishes in the top-two, they would move on to one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February. Canada looks to advance to their fourth consecutive Olympic games.

Canada’s Senior Women’s National Team is ranked fifth in the FIBA World Ranking.

Achiuwa’s injury update

The Raptors will take on former assistant coach Adrian Griffin and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night. They look to end their 3-game losing skid.

Precious Achiuwa will once again be out for the Raptors as he continues to battle a left groin strain.

Achiuwa did not play on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers. This is the same injury that kept Achiuwa out most of the preseason. Toronto will continue to lean on Chris Boucher from off the bench.
