Patrick Beverley is no stranger when it comes to talking trash.

He took a shot at the Toronto Raptors this past week before their matchup on Saturday.

On the “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone,” Beverley questioned Toronto’s identity:

“Who’s the dog of that team? I see O.G. Anunoby in a dark alley, I see Pascal Siakam in a dark alley I don’t feel threatened.”

The Raptors played the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night. O.G. Anunoby couldn’t get revenge against Patrick Beverley because he was out with muscle cramps, but Pascal Siakam was available. Unfortunately, Siakam did not have a good game and proved Beverley right.

Siakam only scored 11 points on 8 total shots. Following their victory over the Raptors, Beverley took to X and doubled down on his comment:

Like I said. No dogs @PatBevPod

— Patrick Beverley (@patbev21) October 29, 2023

Beverley can thank his teammates for backing up his talk. Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey were excellent and scored 34 points each. As for Beverley he only finished with 2 points in 17 minutes.

Beverley struck a cord amongst Raptors fans, but there could be a hint of truth behind what he said. Siakam hasn’t stepped up to the plate so far this season and he needs to be better if Toronto wants to be competitive this season.

The Raptors fell short to the 76ers in Nick Nurse’s return to Toronto and now they hope to bounce back on Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Raptors injury report

The Raptors could be shorthanded against the Blazers:

Precious Achiuwa (left groin strain) is listed as doubtful for tomorrow’s game vs Portland. O.G. Anunoby is questionable with muscle cramps. Koloko remains out.

— Josh Lewenberg (@JLew1050) October 29, 2023

Precious Achiuwa left the game against the 76ers and did not return. As for Anunoby he left the game on Friday against the Bulls and did not suit up against the 76ers on Saturday. Christian Koloko remains out and there’s no timetable for his return.

It’s early in the season and the Raptors are already dealing with some injuries which is something they don’t want to see.
